Intro

FACE METH is a public health campaign raising awareness about methamphetamine (meth) in New York. We envision a transformative movement dedicated to harm reduction and holistic health within the ballroom community and beyond. Our mission is to foster informed choices.

With insights from community leaders, focus groups, and an advisory board, the campaign supports healthy approaches to meth use. Join us in creating a culture of support, resilience, and empowerment, where health, dignity, and love triumph over stigma and harm.

About METH

Crystal meth poses significant risks to our health. Our community is being negatively impacted by meth use. HIV transmission, syphilis, and overdoses are linked to meth use. Depression, psychosis and other mental health issues are frequently reported.

Meth (Tina-crystal-ice-crank-speed) is a highly addictive, synthetic stimulant drug that affects the nervous system. It typically comes as a white powder or crystals that can be smoked, snorted, eaten, or injected.

People like meth because it increases dopamine in the brain leading to feelings of euphoria. Many describe the drug as enhancing sexual arousal, lowering inhibitions, and boosting self-confidence. At first, meth may seem like a great party drug – it helps you stay up late and can make sex more exciting. But meth is also very addictive and people using it can end up in a very bad place. Many people will need help to come out of heavy meth use.
